9 Things We All Miss in Boracay

Image
Gone are the days when a trip to the world famed island, Boracay, is as easy as clicking a Piso Fare promo ad. After the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the area in 2018, when some activities were restricted and permanently stopped, and now during this COVID-19 pandemic, when health protocols are being implemented, I must say that a lot has changed in the way we experience Boracay. But , I guess, it is safe to say that these changes are needed to achieve a sustainable tourism and to preserve the beauty of Boracay we are all blessed. Perhaps, I can consider myself lucky, 'coz I was able to witness and experience Boracay before and after these lifechanging events. So maybe it will be good to lay down the 9 things we miss about Boracay: 1. White Beach: First on the list, Boracay's white sand beach. Who would not want to feel those fine sand touching your toes while you're having a peaceful and quiet morning walk. Definitely, this 4km stretch of white sand beach is the to...

Top 4 Reasons Why Tourism in PH will not Improve ‘till 2022

Image
Despite the efforts made by the Department of Tourism in surviving the dying tourism of the Philippines, I must say that these are inadequate to sustain plenty of businesses as well as to encourage a significant number of tourists to fly again ‘till 2022. Before the lockdown in 2020, I used to fly domestically for at least once a month. I was the kind of traveler whose clothes are readily packed inside travel cubes since we are sometimes deployed anywhere in the country. I am also the type wherein I only access my plane ticket on my e-mail whenever I am on queue in the airport. There was also one time that I have to roam around 6 different provinces via plane and boat in just a week. So I guess, I've seen how traveling domestically became a hassle this pandemic. So I want to share the TOP 4 REASONS why the PH will not see any significant boost in tourism anytime soon. These insights were based from my recent travels since the lockdown started in 2020. 1.Requiring tourists an RT PC...

6 Tips to survive the trek to Tappiya Falls, Batad

Image
Some weeks ago, I found myself sitting and snuggling my pillow with my sleepy head on a car’s backseat during a dreary 8-hour drive from the congested flashy highways of Manila to the zigzag rough roads of Ifugao: hail to our drivers for surviving that exhausting trip! But who am I to complain? This quick and quiet weekend chill with some of my fun-loving friends to Batad, Ifugao, was all I needed to free my troubling thoughts. I have been to this province four times before: twice as a side trip to Sagada; once, as a side trip from Nueva Vizcaya; and once, for a medical mission in another municipality with my Mum. But never I have set foot at the calm community of Batad. To be honest, I have this impression on my mind that this would not be as fun as my other trips since I’ve already gone in the locale for a number of times. Lo and behold, I proved myself wrong. Definitely, this short trip would be one for the books.   It diverted my debilitating thoughts to a robust ...

Kalinga’s Rich Culture

Image
📷 MJ Evalorosa Kalinga was just a province along the Cordillera mountain🌄  ranges for me not until I had the chance to visit the place for work.   And yes! I had that typical excitement I am having whenever I am about to visit unfamiliar places. Yet, I did not expect it to be as thrilling and fun as my previous trips or fieldworks: considering, that the area is not part of Philippine’s top destinations in one’s bucket list. To my surprise, I keep on telling my colleagues that it was, by far, my MOST favorite—I repeat—my SUPER FAVORITE fieldwork I ever experienced. If you’re thinking that I had the chance to visit touristy spots or had the liberty to explore its wonders and secrets. Then you’re wrong! It was for the reason that it brought me light to its rich culture.   Probably, this does not ring a bell for some but the bookish person in me finds it A-W-E-S-O-M-E that culture is not only imprinted in books📚 but is flourishing and preserved by people. ...

5 Destinations to see at Misamis Occidental

Image
Late afternoon at Plaridel Beach in Misamis Occidental Mindanao is a land of rich heritage and Misamis Occidental is no exception to this. Nestled along Panguil Bay, the province has a lot to offer. Here is a list of places to check out.   1. Fuerte de la Concepcion y del Triunfo: If you’re fascinated with history and enthralled by grandeur old structure, then the Fuerte de la Concepcion y del Triunfo is a must see destination in Ozamiz City. Built in 1756, the more than two century old Spanish fortress has been a witness to the rich history of the city. It reminds me more of the Sto Nino Fort at Cebu City wherein you can roam around the fort in just a few minutes unlike the Fort Santiago at Intamuros, Manila wherein you have to allot at least a day or half to check each hidden tunnels. The museum also houses the tourism office of the city so if you need a little assistance on your next trip here at Ozamiz City, this is the place where you can find them. I m...

5 Reasons to Stay at Azalea Residences Baguio

Image
When I was still a young lass, I remember that every summer vacation my family would take the long aggravating hours of travel to Baguio City to escape from the oven-heat temperature from the low lands.   Back then we would always stay at a villa at an exclusive subdivision located at the outskirts of the city proper. Possibly, my parents prefers a villa secluded from the city because it’s safer for us kids to roam around and perhaps because it has ample parking spaces. Another factor would be, the available working kitchen for my mom to prepare our meals and the adequate rooms for all of us. I can still remember that I would walk two blocks from our rented place to play at the playground. Also, there’s a club house uphill the village wherein we usually dine out when we’re running out of food. Perhaps, staying in a villa when travelling to Baguio City was the best choice back then when renting transient houses were the trend and beautiful hotels have membership fees. I...
