Top 4 Books to Inspire you to Travel

What better way to celebrate National Book Lover’s Day but to write something about books that will surely inspire you to travel.

From famous expeditions in Greek mythology to conquering different planets in the universe, you’ll definitely have a long list of titles about travels and explorations. But let me talk about my personal favorites and recommendations for ya’ll. So here are myTOP 4 Books about Travels.

1.The Alchemist
Perhaps, Paulo Coelho’s magnum opus, The Alchemist is about a shepherd whom despite having meager resources still braved to cross borders from Spain to Egypt in the search of an unknown treasure. Yes, the plot seems average but I guess we have to give credit to Coelho’s writing as the story made us realized that being on a journey alone in the middle of the unknown is quite a challenge yet rewarding in the end.
And just a quick trivia, this is the first novel that introduced me to the love of iureading books. So yeah, this always tops my fave book lists.

2. The Little Prince

Here’s a classic: a short and simple story of a young prince wandering around some planets and serving us some wisdom on adulthood.
Unlike the other titles in this list in which the story started with a purpose to travel, this book dwelled on the creatures encountered by the protagonist along the way. Besides, reaching once destination or goal is just a little part of a once lengthy journey. So, I guess, it is imperative to make every moment count.
3. Kafka On The Shore:
A book set in Japan, the story revolves on two characters-- a teenage boy who wanted to prove himself and a naïve senior citizen who never left his hometown since he was born. Both took the odds of running away from their hometown.
One of the things that I applaud in the novel was how the heroes of the story were victorious in their endeavor despite lacking the qualities of a street smart folk. Which   I think is necessary in every trip. Definitely, it will take such boldness to travel alone in strange places but it will take such audacity to leave outside your safe bubble knowing your limitations.
BTW, reading this book made me crave for Japanese food even more.
4.Eat,Pray Love:
Far from the first three books mentioned, this is the only one in the list which is not under the magical realism genre. Eat, Pray, Love is an auto-biographical story of a woman who traveled in Italy, India, and Indonesia in the hopes of rebuilding herself.
More than showing the perks of traveling into various countries. I think what made this book a success is how the story depicted the culture of each country.
Definitely, traveling is among the brilliant ways to regain and discover your inner strength.

Despite the disparity in the writing style, setting, and scenes, I must say that there were similarities seen in each story.

First, the heroes of the story bravely took the  simplest yet the hardest step in every journey: taking the first big leap.

Second, all of the main characters were alone in the beginning of their exploration. But, each of them encountered various people or creatures that somehow eased their struggles.

Lastly, all of the four titles highlighted the weaknesses of each protagonist: a poor shepherd, an innocent prince, a naïve teenager, a mentally challenged elderly, and a wretched woman. Ironically, these traits brought the strength in each story. As these vulnerabilities did not hinder them to take the odds and travel.

So there, these are my recommended books to bring out the wanderlust in you.
